TRW Common English Translation

1 In case that in the languages of the humans I may be uttering, and of the messengers, but I may not be holding godly love, I have become a lowering into a chasm, one making a confusing roar, even a swelling hollowness, one shouting, “Halloo!”; 2 and in case that I may be holding a shining prophecy beforehand and I may have seen all the secrets and all the knowledge; and in case that I may be holding all the persuasion, so also to move mountains, but I may not be holding godly love, I am no one. 3 In case that I may also supply all of my things to the ones coming under me; in case that I may also give my body alongside, so that I will set on fire, but I may not be holding godly love, I am being useful for nothing.

4 The godly love is breathing patiently long and hard, is being furnished for what is useful. The godly love is not overheating. The godly love is not piercing for its own boasting, is not itself being inflated, 5 not without shaping, is not seeking things of itself, is not being burned alongside, is not taking account for itself worthless things, 6 is not cheering about the inequity, but is cheering, united in the Truth. 7 It is covering to protect all things, it is persuading all things, it is confiding all things, it is remaining under all things.

8 Godly love does not at anytime fall out from flight. But if also shining prophecies beforehand will be made inactive, if also languages will themselves pause, if also the act of knowing will be made inactive, 9 yet from out of an allotment I will be knowing and from out of an allotment I will be shining prophecies beforehand. 10 Yet whenever might come the destination, the when, it will be made inactive from out of allotment, 11 at which too I was being one not speaking, in that manner one not speaking I was uttering, in that manner one not speaking I was exercising intentions, in that manner one not speaking I was taking account of myself, yet at which I became a man, I put down to make inactive the things of the one not speaking. 12 For in lifting up, through a mirror I am looking at, as in a saying from a story. But when, in lifting up visage toward visage, I am knowing from out of an allotment; but that is when I will know on my own, just also as I am known in particular. 13 But just now is staying persuasion, confiding, godly love, but these three, the bigger of these, is godly love.
